H.O.D’ Profile
The Head of Department Professor Nicholas Sesugh Iwokwagh has been involved with teaching and research at the university level for over 15 years. He is a consummate researcher, and has participated in cutting edge academic and applied social research. He has served as a consultant and team leader in the Baseline Survey on Radio Diary (a HIV/AIDS anti-stigmatisation programme on Radio Benue) for Partnership for Transforming Health Systems (PATHS), a DFID sponsored project. He has also served as a consultant and team leader to UNICEF (A Field Office, Enugu, Nigeria) in the Rapid Assessment Survey on Knowledge, Attitude, Behaviour and Practice on Bird Flu.

Prof. Iwokwagh also served as a resource person to UNICEF (A Field Office) in the Review of Training Manual for Community Communication Surveillance System for Avian Influenza Prevention and Control at Household, Backyard Poultry, and Community levels. He is a member of the Africa-UK Journalism Education Exchange Network and several other international professional associations. Prof Iwokwagh has supervised PhD, Masters and Undergraduate students. He has over 70 scholarly publications in high impact domestic and international journals, conference proceedings and books. He has provided academic leadership in various capacities; he has served three times as a head of department, and is currently, the Head, Department of Information and Media Technology, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria.

He has contributed to quality assurance in communication education in Nigeria by designing and implementing the seminal and benchmark curriculum for the Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) Information and Media Technology Programme, Federal University of Technology, Minna, the first of its kind in Nigeria. His research interests include: New Media Technologies, News Media Innovation Research, Health Communication, Development Communication and Political Communication.

To produce well informed competent professionals who are capable of imparting on information technologies and media practices nationally and globally; through developing a student-centered, intellectually stimulating and technologically advanced teaching, learning and research environment.

MISSION
To serve as an intellectual centre that will produce graduates with high competencies in Information and Media Technologies that will meet contemporary market demands; as well as serve as a community resource for new ideas, partnerships and collaborative effort.
